Open lecture at the Arts Education Department

During her presentation Drs. Eva Fock, ethnomusicologist, will introduce the project The North Atlantic Music Stafet and share some of the experiences gained from the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

She will also reflect on the underlying pedagogical ideas of how to shape music education in the future, in a time where reproduction of popular artists has a tendency to dominate everywhere.

The North Atlantic Music Stafet, coming from Nuuk to Reykjavik betwen April 9th - 13th, is a Nordic school project sending sounds, words and photos between school classes in Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland and back to Denmerk.

It is also a project about developing music education in schools in new directions: The involved teachers, a sound researcher, an ethnomusicologist and a composer, have for years been reflecting curious about how to teach children to open their ears - to the world around.

The lecture will be in English and is open to all.
