Bindrune – Form study
Áslaug Baldursdóttir

Icelanders are a nation of storytellers and sagas, and runic letters are an intrinsic part of their history – but today only a few people can read or write runes as they were used in olden times and even fewer are familiar with bindrunes. Bindrunes are runic symbols that consist of two or more runes. This work explores the shapes that make up the runic letters.

When the shapes are separated and examined, it becomes easier to use the runic letters. The objective of the project is to draw attention to this Icelandic cultural treasure, and highlight the importance of promulgating knowledge of it.
