If no changes will be made in today's consumption are made, speciallyparticularly in the field of textile production, the it will have serious consequences on the entire planet and mankind itself could be serious. Now, for the second time, tThe pProject Misbrigði is now being developed for the second time by the 2nd nd year students in the of Fashion Ddesign department Program at the Iceland Academy of the Arts since it was extremely succesfulsuccessful last year. I, and it has been made clear that recycling will continue to play an essential role in the future. MTo minimizinge production and changinge methods does not have to aeffect the creativity process. To the contrary, thewe will have more need for creativity and knowledge will be more than everthan ever before.

Excessive consumerism and the short durability of cheap textiles makes make the fashion- and textile industry very bad for the environmentenvironmentally unfriendly. This can be changed by giving old clothes and fabrics a new purpose in a creative way. The project Misbrigði Morphing castaways is a response to western consumerism-oriented society and is ina collaboration with tThe Icelandic Red Cross in Iceland. The project aims to bring the attention of students to sustainability. DuringIn the course the students discuss consumption behaviourbehavior in our society in context withof conventional values, (atvinnulíf) and the economy.

We want to raise awareness on how consumerism occurs, what has real value and what does not. Creativity options and knowledge are examined in the context of recycling and students only worked with used clothes and handovers in their creations, nothing new was purchased.
