“(In)habit”

"The images capture a pause within/between unknown activity. There is an attempt to look, to focus attention on what happens in the periphery. This pause, this moment held in place by the photograph, enables the space to speak of time, the building’s time and the time of the people who have inhabited the space.

There is an appreciation of light and of fleeting instances in the liminal spaces of buildings. The atmosphere and paper recreations make us question the narrative being suggested and our own relationship with such spaces, asking us to look afresh at the places we inhabit."

Aissa Lopez is an Irish multidisciplinary artist. She is based in Sweden, Iceland and Ireland. She has an MFA in sculpture and is completing an MA in Photography at the Valand Academy, Göteborg. Her work investigates the meaning of our relationships with the architectural spaces we inhabit. At the moment Aissa is in the exchange program of the Icelandic Art Academy.
