MÆNA 2019 Theme: TransThe prefx trans- circumscribes the theme for the 2019 issue of Mæna. The word is open to interpretation by all contributors but it is often employed as a prefx to denote actions that enter across or through something. Transtherefore relates to such disparate topics as changes (transformation, transposition…), travelling (transfer, transport, Trans-Siberian…), gender identity (transgender, transvestite…), religious rituals (trances, transgression…) languages (translating…), ways of communication, life and death – to name a few. Students will also employ the theme as a principle for their design of the magazine.
