Open Call for Praxis: IUA's Performing Arts Symposium

The Department of Performing Arts at the Iceland Academy of the Arts is advertising for contributions to Praxis, the performing arts conference of the Iceland Academy of the Arts, which will be held for the second time on Saturday, March 29, 2025. The conference is a platform for artistic experimentation, knowledge creation, and dialogue between the professional community and the university community. Thus, the conference is a place for the performing arts scene to come together and share methods, research, and think together for the future.

The theme of Praxis 2025 is Directors on Directing – What / How / Why and applications should include a CV and a 1-page statement on the topic of the talk and the reason for the application. Applications are open to all performing artists, but the application should state how the contribution relates to the topic of Praxis. Contributions are invited from the performing arts community, which can be in the form of a lecture, workshop, seminar, work in progress, etc. Contributions should be a maximum of 45 minutes with discussion. There is no separate payment for participation in Praxis.

Applications are open until Friday, February 7, 2025 and should be submitted using the form below.

Iceland University of the Arts Department of Performing Arts seeks contributions for Praxis, IUA's Performing Arts Symposium, which will be held for the second time on Saturday March 29th 2025. The symposium is a platform for artistic experiments, knowledge creation and dialogue between the performing arts scene and the academia. Thus, the symposium becomes a place for the Icelandic performing arts scene to come together, share methods and/or research, and look towards the future.
