Applications are invited for the position of University Lecturer in Contemporary Performing Arts Methods at the Department of Performing Arts at the Iceland Academy of the Arts. The position includes teaching, supervision and research.

This is a 50% position. The position is available from August 4, 2026.

Educational and qualification requirements:

•     A master's degree that is useful in work
•     University degree in performing arts
•     Teaching experience in performing arts is an advantage
•     Work experience in the field of contemporary performing arts, such as co-creation and/or diverse storytelling methods, is an advantage
•     Experience in performing arts research is an advantage
•     Knowledge of performing arts/theater studies is an advantage
•     Communication skills, reliability and organizational skills
•     Excellent ability to communicate material in spoken and written language
•     Good Icelandic and English skills

When hiring, consideration will be given to the applicant's ability to collaborate with others and how their skills can be used for work within the school. A doctorate is an advantage. Performance in interviews will be of great importance in the hiring decision. The employment rate is 50% or higher. The position is available from August 4, 2026.
