Camilla Cerioni

Listsköpun Camillu Cerioni er þverfagleg og notar hún skynjunarupplifanir í ferli sem hefst á því að gera hljóðræn tungumál óhlutbundin þar sem líkamshreyfingar, myndefni og tónlist eru tilviljunarkennd og samtengd. Hún er heilluð af norrænu umhverfi, þar sem sjáanleg samsvörun er milli orku náttúrunnar og mikilfenglegrar tjáningar.

Verkið ávarpar innra/ytra, sýnilegt/ósýnilegt hljóð- og myndmál þar sem hreyfingar málarans tengjast hreyfingum hljómsveitarstjórans/tónskáldsins. Innan viðkvæms náttúrulegs umhverfis skapa ég andstæður milli tveggja skynjunarvídda. Spuni verksins er vitundarferlið sem er í nánum tengslum við listaverkið og áhorfandann. Með því að upplifa hið ósýnilega er hægt að uppgötva önnur og ný skilningarvit.

Rannsóknaraðferðir mínar eru sprottnar af hugmyndum um samskynjun, í gegnum þverfaglega nálgun með sífelldri sveiflu hljóðs og hreyfingar þá eru skynfærin örvuð ósjálfrátt í gegnum sköpunarferlið. Í þannig rými þá fæ ég tilfinningu fyrir því að vera ein með náttúrunni, Listaverkið leitast við að næra skilningarvitin og hugann og kalla fram tengslanet okkar tíma við náttúruna. Markmið mitt er að snerta við og hlúa að djúpum tilfinningum sem með samkennd færa fólk nær hvert öðru, sem er andstæða við þá innantómu tilfinningu er skapast við að fletta í gegnum færslur á samfélagsmiðlum. Hljómsvið verka minna eru upptökur í náttúrunni og innri upplifanir.

Í samfélagi þar sem færri og færri djúpstæðum hugsunum og minningum er deilt á meðal fólks, þá er mikilvægi þess að deila tilfinningalegum upplifunum af listum, bókmenntum og sögu stöðugt veigameira. Í samfélögum fyrri tíma voru munnmæli goðsagna eða fornra söngva nauðsynleg fyrir samfélagsþróunina.

Hljóðrænt andrúmsloft skapar möguleika á að ímynda sér heiminn í dag upp á nýtt. Örva tilflutning innan samskipta samtímans úr fáfræði yfir í þekkingarsköpun, frá áhrifum tækniveraldarinnar á einstaklinginn yfir í áhrifamikil tengsl við náttúruna.

Camilla Cerioni’s art works are interdisciplinary using sensory perceptions, starting from the abstraction of sonic languages where body movement, images and music are interconnected and mutually contingent. She is fascinated by Nordic sensibility where strength of nature and powerful expression are manifested.

The work addresses inner/outer, visible/invisible sonic and visual languages, where the gestures and the movements of the painter are connected to those of the music conductor/composer. I would like to create a sensory polarity between these two dimensions of our perceptions within sensitive natural environments. The improvisational part of the work focuses on awareness as a process of intimate contact between the work of art and the audience, reaching beyond what can be seen, in order to discover other senses.

My research methods stem from ideas of synesthesia, an interdisciplinary approach, being intuitively stimulated by the senses and then repeated in a perpetual motion of sound and movement. During the process of creation I think of a space that made me feel at one with nature.

The artwork seeks to nourish both senses and the mind and to elicit a nexus of our time and nature. My aim is to touch and nurture genuine emotions to bring people closer empathetically, as opposed to the empty feeling one gets from scrolling through social media posts. The sonorities of my work are composed of recordings in nature and inner experiences of gentle approaches.

In a society where fewer and fewer deep thoughts and memories are exchanged, the evocation of sharing feelings felt by experiencing art, literature and history is important. As in old societies the orality of myths or ancient songs is necessary for community development.

Creating sonic atmospheres allows a re-imagination of the world we live in now and stimulates the transition from ignorance to knowledge in the contemporary dialogue between deep relationships with nature and absorption of the individual by the technological world.
