This project is by me, Rieke Reinink, and it was inspired by the sight of businesswomen trying to hurry between work and home in the rain or during a storm. For an outsider, this often creates an amusing spectacle. These impeccably dressed, confident women—who usually appear so composed and self-assured—are suddenly caught in an awkward, uncomfortable, or even slightly embarrassing situation. For the observer, this moment of vulnerability offers something refreshing, perhaps even joyful. It’s a lighthearted reminder that even the most poised individuals are not immune to life’s little inconveniences. My goal was to create a playful and entertaining project that is fun to look at and enjoyed.
The photos were taken on Borgartún in Reykjavik. I would like to thank my three models, Sigriður Langdal, Laura Hartmann, and Amalie Rybakova for their help with the photoshoot. I took the photos myself but had assistance from Marie Branche and I’m also grateful to Daine Francoiseau for keeping the models warm during the shoot.
