Rannsóknarstofa í tónlist (RíT), í samstarfi við tónleikaröðina Hljóðön, býður þýska tónskáldið Walter Zimmermann velkomið, föstudaginn 25. apríl. Zimmermann heldur fyrirlestur um eigin verk og aðferðir með áherslu á þróun hans á tóntegundakerfum án tónmiðju.

Zimmermann kenndi tónsmíðar við konservatoríuna í Liège, Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, en var lengst af prófessor í tónsmíðum við Listaháskólann í Berlín frá 1993. Þá hefur hann gefið út fjöldan allan af greinum og skrifað bækurnar Desert Plants (1976, conversations with 23 American composers) og Insel Musik (1981) ásamt því að ritstýra bókinni Morton Feldman Essays (1985).

CRiM-Lecture: Walter Zimmermann

Centre for Research in Music (CRiM) in collaboration with the concert series Hljóðön welcomes composer Walter Zimmermann.
Zimmermann will discuss his own works and methods with emphasis on his compositional system of non-centered tonality.

Walter Zimmermann (b. 1949) taught composition at the Conservatoire royal de musique in Liège from 1980–84 and at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe from 1990–92 and has taught as Professor für Komposition at the Universität der Künste Berlin since 1993. He has contributed articles to numerous publications, has written the books Desert Plants (1976, conversations with 23 American composers) and Insel Musik (1981) and edited the collection Morton Feldman Essays (1985).
