The goal with student counselling is to enhance the students’ awareness of their position, interests, and talents for optimal results in their studies. It is a venue for students to address educational matters with the assistance of a student counsellor who acts as their confidant. The student counsellor also provides support for students with special needs such as dyslexia or other disabilities during final exams. It is the student’s responsibility to inform the student counsellor of his/her disability when commencing studies at the IAA.

Presently, there is no student counsellor employed at the Academy. Students are advised to turn to their Programme Director regarding educational issues that may arise. Departmental Assistants provide assistance and information regarding ECTS and the progression of studies. Any matters can be discussed confidentially with ragnhildur [at] lhi.is (Ragnhildur Ísleifs Ólafsdóttir), student counsellor.
